Health care sharing (also known as medical sharing) is a way for people to pay for their health care without health insurance. Within a health care sharing plan, like Samaritan Health Ministries (more on them in a bit), when members have a medical need they get support from other members in the group and pay their health care providers (hospitals, doctors, labs, etc.) directly rather than pay

This could be a really short post since the answer is: because Samaritan Ministries health care sharing works so much better for our family and we save so much money (especially because we use natural remedies and don't run to the doctor for minor stuff).
Health care sharing WORKS! It is a viable alternative to the expensive and/or limited options most people have going the conventional insurance route. Samaritan is the largest of the health care sharing organizations in the United States. As of February 2017, Samaritan serves over 224,000 members and 68,000 households.
Joel Noble, Samaritan Ministries' director of public policy and the vice president of the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries, told me that its three member ministries (Samaritan Ministries, Medi-Share, and Christian Healthcare Ministries) have a total membership of just under 900,000 individuals, up from about 565,000 in February 2016.
